Roof Renovation in Palo Alto, CA
For many California homeowners, a complete roof replacement isn’t always necessary — sometimes, a smart renovation is the better path forward. That was the case for Emily Dawson, who contacted us after noticing water stains on her ceiling during a February rainstorm. Her classic bungalow in Palo Alto’s Forest Avenue neighborhood was due for a careful assessment and precision work, not a full teardown.
After a thermal moisture scan and attic ventilation check, we developed a custom renovation plan. Key areas of the roof were showing signs of wear, particularly around skylights, flashing seams, and along the northern slope where shade and moisture caused early deterioration.
Restoring Integrity Without Replacing It All
Rather than removing the entire roof, we selectively removed compromised shingles and underlayment, repaired decking sections, and upgraded all flashing and ridge vents. We also cleaned out debris-clogged gutters and installed ice & water shielding around vulnerable eaves.
The renovation was completed between February 14 and 27, just ahead of an incoming storm. Thanks to precise planning, daily clean-up, and clear communication, Emily was able to stay in her home with no disruption.
Project Goal
- Repair weather-damaged zones while preserving the rest of the roof
- Improve attic ventilation and extend roof lifespan by 10–15 years
- Prevent leaks around skylights and eaves
- Keep the home livable and safe during the process
- Deliver results within the $26,800 budget
